Young and dynamic

Since its founding in 1991 the number of students has grown to nearly 2300.

All courses have been converted to the bachelor's and master's education according to european standards.

The courses are accredited by independend and nationally operating agencies and have a corresponding seal of quality.


In 2013 the Fachhochschule Stralsund was again awarded with the certificate "audit family friendly university" for their exemplary commitment to promoting a family-friendly work environment and family-friendly conditions for studying . Back in 2004 she received from the city of Stralsund the label "barrier free" attests to the excellent study conditions for students with disabilities.

All buildings and facilities on campus have been reconstructed or rebuilt:
1995: the newly formed student village "Holzhausen" with 308 seats was built,
1997: the new building for the School of Mechanical Engineering was commissioned;

the new building for the School of Business Studies has opened.


In addition to teaching, research has been continuously developed. Research in engineering mainly focuses on the interdisciplinary topic of “The use of renewable sources of energy/ hydrogen technology”.

Leisure time

Live on campus offers students many opportunities such as sports in the sports community of the university or watching movies in university film club. Cultural events or students parties - on the University of Applied Sciences Stralsund is always something going on. There are excellent conditions for the exercise of various kinds of water sport. Even the acquisition of a sailing license is possible.

The three schools Electrical Engeneering ad Computer Science, Business Studies, Mechanical Engeneering

offer the following major degree courses: Leisure and Tourism Management, Baltic Management Studies, Business Administration, Tourism Development Strategies, Business Informatics, Electrical Engeneering, Informatics, Mechanical Engeneering, Medizinisches Informationsmanagement/eHealth  as well as Engeneering with Business Studies (also in form of woman's studies, sandwich and supplementary courses).

Contacts with more than 70 universities abroad.

The introduction of international courses, the European Project "International Engeneering", the complete conversion to bachelor and master degree courses as well as the ever-increasing number of foreign students illustrate the international character of the university.

The University of Applied Sciences is also an attractive place for studies due to the friendly atmosphere of the old Hanseatic town Stralsund as well as the attractive surrounding area with the island Rügen, the national park “Jasmund” and the “Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft”
